After many weeks of silence, Steve has a new video!

Happy Birthday to ME

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Well I turned 34 on Wednesday! I celebrated by running 10km (the farthest I’ve ever run in my life) and then eating back all the calories I burned with burgers and beer. Fun times!

My son celebrated by taking a crap in the bath tub and I had to scoop it out with my bare hand. So one more “first time” experience was checked off the list.

As for game progress, I still haven’t done a Liam voice. There is so much other animation to do that I haven’t had a chance. Also, there hasn’t been enough quiet time in the house. I will get to it and do a video soon though!

I’m almost done my third cut scene, one more to go and then I’m going to evaluate where I am and decide if I’ll do any more or move the rest into the game.

As for Steve, he went from way behind to nipping at my heels. He’s made an enormous dent in the programming list! Right now he’s working on character interaction within the puzzles, it’s a major task and once he’s done, the game will basically be playable from beginning to end. Which is amazingly exciting for me!

So all in all we’ve probably made more progress this month than the last three months combined. It’s really starting to come together, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Have a great weekend!

My NEW microphone has arrived!

Friday, June 10th, 2011

I don’t really have anything too amazing to report this week, nothing really video worthy so we’re going to kick it old school and just do a regular blog post.

The big news this week is my new Blue Yeti microphone arrived in the mail! I just got it all set up and have been running some tests, so far so good. I’ll have to find a way to soundproof this room a bit and then I’ll be ready to start rocking some Liam voices.

Steve on the other hand has been hammering away at the code, he was even hinting at having the entire game strung together today, which is really exciting! Once that is all done we’ll be working on individual puzzle tweaks.

Also, on the music front, Mitch told me he has over 12 minutes of original music written for the game so far. I’m planning on taking a trip over to his studio soon to have a listen to it. Now that’ll be video worthy!

All in all the game is really starting to come together, I’m feeling very good about how everything is flowing. We should have some major pieces completely done soon and then I might even feel comfortable enough to guess at a release date… maybe.

Enjoy your weekend and stay tuned for more updates next week!
